What follows in most cases is that the initial claim will be denied by the agency. You will have a limited amount of time from the initial denial in which to file a "request for reconsideration." Generally, claims will also be denied at the reconsideration hearing. At this point, you must request to have your case heard before an Administrative Law Judge. Most claims, if they are going to be approved, will find success here. However, judges can and do reject claims at these hearings as well. If this happens in your case the final step in the process will be to file an appeal.
